Transit Information

TWOV (Transit Without Visa):
Visa required, except for Holders of confirmed onward tickets for a max. transit time of 8 hours.

Visa Issuance:
Visa required, except for Nationals of India can obtain a transit visa on arrival for a max. stay of 24 hours, provided: Visa required, except for Holders of a valid visa issued by Saudi Arabia and permitting entry by land, can obtain a 24 hours transit visa on arrival, provided continuing journey byland using the Causeway to Saudi Arabia. Fee: BHD 2.-. (See note 36980)

* Note 36980: Housemaids travelling to Saudi Arabia must prove to the airline that their sponsor will be present upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.

Warning:
- Passengers holding a Saudi Arabian visa endorsed "By Air" must enter Saudi Arabia by air. Using ground transportation is not permitted. This includes ticketed segments BAH-DMM operated by bus / car via the Causeway.
Transit & Transfer passengers through Bahrain have to go to inboundsecurity control on level 2.8. Passengers without onward boarding cardsproceed to the transfer desks for check-in, while passengers already holding a boarding card for their onward flight proceed to the departure lounge on level 6.0.

Customs Allowance

Import:
- Free import by passengers of 18 years and over:
1. 1-400 cigarettes, 50 cigars and 250 grams of tobacco, in opened packets, provided packaging contains a pictorial Health warning.
2. 8oz. of perfume
3. 1 litre bottle of alcoholic liquor and 6 cans of beer
4. Gifts up to a maximum of BHD 250.- (approx. USD 600.-) on items not subject to customs duty.

Arms and Ammunition:
- Import Permit required for arms and ammunition. The transportation of arms, ammunition and all classes of Explosives require prior permission from the Ministry of the Interior and Civil Aviation Affairs of Bahrain.

Additional Information:
- Luggage and gifts must be for personal use and cannot be used for commercial purposes.
- Frequent travelers and air crew regularly operating on flights into Bahrain are not permitted to import goods on a regular basis.
- The following items are prohibited in Bahrain and their import is not permitted:
- all types of narcotic drugs (heroin, cocaine, hashish, pills having drug effects, etc.);
- Indian paan and derivatives.
- used and reconditioned tyres.
- cultured pearls.
- Advertisement material for all types of cigarettes.
- Radio/remote controlled model aircraft.
- Children's toy guns capable of firing projectiles.
- Goods of Israeli origin or goods with Israeli trademarks or logos.
- printed publications, photographs, pictures, books, magazines sculptures and mannequins which contradict Islamic Teachings, decency, or which may be considered immoral.
- Seditious or treasonable material.
- Asbestos or items containing asbestos;
- Raw ivory, ivory articles and rhinoceros horn.
- Live swine.

Crew Members:
- are permitted to import:
1. 400 cigarettes and 50 cigars.
2. 8oz. of perfume;
3. 1 litre bottle of alcoholic liquor and 6 cans of beer;
4. gifts up to a maximum of BHD 250.- (approx. USD 600.-) on items not subject to customs duty.

Counters open 3 hours prior to STD and close an hour before STD.

First/Business Class and status passengers
Check-in
For First Class, Business Class and status passengers, there are dedicated premium check-in facilities on level 6.0 at the far Eastern end of the departure Concourse.

Economy Class passengers
Check-In
Check-in counters for Economy class passengers are located in the main check- in hall. Access is only granted to passengers with a valid ticket and is controlled by police. Counters 1-16 are assigned for Gulf Air (GF) common check-in.

Check-in counter 17 is for express check-in for GF passengers with hand luggage only, also for web check-in baggage drop. Counters on the right hand side from 17A-51 are assigned to passengers of other international carriers.

Airport Lounge

The airport currently has three discrete lounges for premium passengers. Located on an upper level accessed by escalators from the departures area at Gate 15 and overlooking the main apron, the Gulf Air First and Business Class lounge offers an exclusive concept of waiter service, a separate family room and electronic video games room for children as well as full business facilities.


Gulf Air Business and First Class lounge
Designed to reflect the essence of Gulf Air and its traditions of hospitality, the Gulf Air lounge at Bahrain International Airport features personalized service in a contemporary setting. Every facility is available, for those who wish to work, to snooze or simply to catch up on global events.

Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a gracious hostess and immediately assailed by the aroma of fresh coffee - a far cry from the usual bustle of international airports.

A panoramic view of aircraft taking off and landing provides a diverting backdrop to the sleek minimalist Arabian style incorporated throughout the lounge. Elevated seating areas offer comfort and privacy to guests, while plasma screens hanging from the ceiling provide news and entertainment.

Facilities include:

  • 'The Dining Room' a new restaurant concept for Falcon Gold passengers wishing to dine before their flight, leaving their flight free to rest or work. At specific times, Gulf Air's Sky Chefs are on hand to create a personal menu of European and Middle Eastern dishes.
  • Our dedicated childcare service for children has been extended to the Bahrain lounge, and the Sky Nanny is available from 0800 to 1400 each day to provide a wide range of on-the-ground services to complement the much heralded on board service.
  • The colorful Family Section, designed specifically for the convenience of those travelling with children. This separate seating area features a playroom with Microsoft X-box systems and the latest games.

Dilmun Lounge
Passengers may enter the lounge paying by cash or credit card. Charges are applied at the rate of Bahraini Dinars BD18 for 3 hours stay prior to the boarding time. The Cash/Credit card method of entry is dependant upon there being enough space available within the lounge. Maximum 3 hours stay prior to the boarding time. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children above two years of age are considered as a normal guest. The Lounge is a non-smoking area.
