Concessionary Fares for Children and Infants
Infants and children are eligible for discounts on base fares, applicable on domestic and international flights. The applicable discount is 10% for economy and 25% for business and first classes respectively.
Note: Please ensure your infant is seated on your lap as additional seats cannot be booked for infants. For multiple infants, each must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older.
Eligibility
- Must be an Indian national
- Permanent residents of India
- Infants aged between 7 days - 2 years on the day of travel
- Children aged between 2-12 years on the day of travel
Documents To Carry
Acceptable proof of identification and date of birth for domestic travel includes an Aadhaar card or a passport issued by the Government of India. For international travel, a passport is mandatory.
Discount Policy
The discount will be applied to base airfare for one-way or round-trip bookings within India and internationally, in both economy and business classes. Discount amounts vary and will be displayed during the booking process.
- Standard fees apply for flight changes, cancellations, or refunds.
- Concessionary fares are available only on flights operated by Air India and do not apply to codeshare flights.
- Travel: Applicable on domestic and international routes for flights operated by Air India.
- Advance reservation and ticketing:
- Reservations and ticketing for each travel segment must be completed at the same time.
- Waitlist and standby are not permitted.
- Sales restriction: Discounted fares can be issued from Air India city ticketing offices, airport ticketing offices, the Air India call centre, and from the official website and mobile app.
- Sale and travel validity: until further notice.
- Discount is valid on both one-way and round-trip bookings.
- Infants are classified as passengers aged 0 to under 2 years at the time of travel.
- Children are classified as passengers aged 2 to under 12 years at the time of travel.
- Fare rules for domestic and international cancellations, refunds, rebooking, and reissues as per the respective cabin class will apply.
- Concessional fares are subject to the availability of seats.
- The tickets are non-endorsable, non-reroutable.
- No name changes are permitted.
- Proper verification of valid ID/documents:
- Identity verification is mandatory and will be carried out at the time of ticketing at a city ticketing office or airport ticketing office and again at check-in points at the airport.
- Passengers must carry proof of identification throughout the journey. No one has the authority to waive the condition of documentation check.
- Boarding will be denied if identity proof is not provided at the boarding gate.
- Airport managers and duty managers undertake surprise checks.
- In case the relevant ID /documents are not presented at the time of check-in, passengers will be charged twice the booked fare plus applicable taxes.
- Identity verification is mandatory and will be carried out at the time of ticketing at a city ticketing office or airport ticketing office and again at check-in points at the airport.
- All general conditions of carriage apply.
An additional 10 kg free baggage allowance is applicable for infants. For child travellers, the baggage allowance shall be in accordance with the fare family chosen.
