Concessions for India’s Armed Forces
Test Members and veterans of India’s armed forces—as well as eligible family members—receive a discount on domestic flights. The discount amount, which varies based on travel dates, will be clearly displayed during the booking process.
Eligibility
Active and retired military personnel of Indian Armed Forces, including but not limited to:
- Army
- Navy
- Air Force
- Paramilitary
- General Reserve Engineering Force
- Coast Guard
- Border Roads Organisation
- Central Armed Police Forces
- Special Frontier Force
- Officers disabled in war
- Recipients of highest bravery awards
- Various inter-service commands and institutions
The following family members of the above personnel will also be considered:
- Spouse
- Dependent children between 2 and 26 years of age
- Married children are not eligible
- Discount for children may not be combined with any additional discount
- Dependent parents
- War widows and widows of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Assam Rifles (AR), and Central Police Organizations (CPOs)
Required ID
Identity verification is mandatory, and passengers must carry proof of identification throughout the journey. Acceptable proof of identity includes:
- Official ID card issued to active and retired personnel
- Dependent ID card issued to family members of active and retired personnel
- Armed Forces widows require an ID card issued by the Ministry of Defence
- Widows of CAPF, AR, and CPOs require an Operational Casualty Certificate issued by Directorate General of concerned force
Concession
Discount will be applied to base airfare for all routes within India territory, for travel in economy classes.Discounts vary based on travel dates and will be clearly displayed during the booking process. Discounts are valid on both one-way and round-trip bookings.
Standard fees apply for flight changes, cancellations, or refunds.
Concessionary fares are available only on flight operated by Air India and do not apply to codeshare flights.
Eligibility
Active and ex-military personnel of the Indian Armed Forces who have received the highest bravery awards - level I, II and III.
(a) Post-independence Awards
- Level I: Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra
- Level II: Mahavir Chakra and Kirti Chakra
- Level III: Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra
(b) Pre-independence Awards
- Level l: Victoria Cross, and George Cross
- Level ll: Distinguished Service Cross, Military Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, and George Medal

Official ID card issued by Army, Navy, or Air Force Headquarters
Travel
All sectors in India.
Validity of ticket
The tickets are valid up to one year from the date of issuance.

- In case the relevant ID /Documents are not presented at the time of check-in, Passenger will be charged two (2) times of the booked fare plus applicable taxes.
- Concessionary fares are applicable on Air India flights only.
- Concessionary fares are not applicable on domestic codeshare flights.

- The personnel must be travelling at their own expense.
- Family members of the personnel deployed as ‘active’ General Reserve Engineering Force personnel. The family includes a spouse, dependent children (between 2 to 26 years of age), and dependent parents.
- Married children are not eligible for this discount.

Family members include a spouse, dependent children (between 2 to 26 years of age), and dependent parents.
Married children are not eligible for this discount.

- Sales restriction: Concessionary fares can be issued from Air India city ticketing offices, airport ticketing offices, the Air India call centre, and from www.airindia.com and mobile app.
- Sale and travel validity: until further notice.
- Discount is valid on both one-way and round-trip bookings.
- Fare rules for cancellations, refunds, rebooking, and reissues as per the respective cabin class will apply.
- Concessional fares are subject to availability of seats.
- The tickets are non-endorsable, non-reroutable.
- No name changes are permitted.
- Proper verification of valid ID/documents:
- Identity verification is MANDATORY and will be carried out at the time of ticketing at a city ticketing office or airport ticketing office and again at check-in points at the airport.
- Passengers must carry proof of identification throughout the journey. No one has the authority to waive the condition of documentation check.
- Boarding will be denied if identity proof is not provided at the boarding gate.
- Airport managers and duty managers undertake surprise checks.
- In case the relevant ID /Documents are not presented at the time of check-in, Passenger will be charged two (2) times of the booked fare plus applicable taxes.
- Identity verification is MANDATORY and will be carried out at the time of ticketing at a city ticketing office or airport ticketing office and again at check-in points at the airport.
- All general conditions of carriage apply.
