As a member of Maharaja Club, you earn two types of points: Tier Points and Maharaja Points.

Tier Points are earned when you fly with Air India, Air India Express, and our 25 Star Alliance Partner Airlines. Your Tier status is determined by the number of Tier Points earned or eligible flights taken.

Maharaja Points are earned when you fly with Air India, Air India Express, and Star Alliance Partner Airlines, as well as through eligible purchases made with Maharaja Club partners.

Maharaja Points can be redeemed for Award Flights on Air India, Air India Express, and Star Alliance Partner Airlines, or for Cabin Upgrades on Air India.

Eligible flight bookings earn both Maharaja Points and Tier Points.

For example, if you are a Silver Tier member:

·      Every INR100 spent on Air India, Air India Express, and Air India Express codeshare flights earns you 8 Maharaja Points and 6 Tier Points.

·      When you book directly through the Air India or Air India Express website or app, you earn an additional 2 Maharaja Points for every INR100 spent.

·      This direct booking bonus does not apply to Air India Express codeshare flights booked through the Air India website.

For purchases made with Maharaja Club partners, you earn Maharaja Points based on the respective partnership agreement. Tier Points are not awarded on partner transactions.

You can earn Maharaja Points on most flights, though eligibility varies by airline:

  • Air India and Star Alliance Partner Airlines: Points can be earned on bookings made using Cash or Cash + Points.
  • Air India Express: Points can only be earned on bookings made using Cash.

Please ensure that your Maharaja Club ID is added to your booking.

You can also estimate the points you may earn on your next journey using the Points Calculator.

For flights operated by Star Alliance Partner Airlines, points are not awarded based on the ticket fare. Instead, they are calculated using:

  • The booking class (e.g., Economy, Business, First)
  • The sector distance (actual miles flown per flight segment)
  • The terms of our agreement with each partner airline, which may vary points accumulation can differ depending on the airline and class of travel, so it's recommended to refer to the mileage accrual chart specific to your frequent flyer program before booking.

You can earn Maharaja Points and Tier Points on eligible Star Alliance Partner Airline flights and Air India Express codeshare flights, subject to the applicable airline agreement and fare eligibility criteria.

  • Star Alliance accrual is mileage-based.
  • Air India Express accrual is revenue-based.

Codeshare and interline flights operated by non-Star Alliance partners are not eligible for accrual.

No. Bonus Maharaja Points are only earned on Air India and Air India Express flights booked through the official Air India or Air India Express website or app.  Star Alliance Partner Airlines and codeshare flights are not eligible for website/app booking bonus points.

Since the change is initiated by the member and involves a new fare, the system treats it as a fresh transaction for accrual purposes. So, Maharaja Points will be credited as per the new ticket.

Tier Points

On Air India flights, you earn 6 Tier Points for every INR100 spent on the combined base fare and fuel surcharge (YQ), excluding taxes and additional fees.

On Air India Express flights, Tier Points are calculated on the base fare only. Fuel surcharge (YQ), taxes, and additional fees are excluded.

On flights with Star Alliance Partner Airlines, you earn 1 Tier Point for every 2 Maharaja Points accrued.

Maharaja Points

On Air India flights, members earn Maharaja Points based on the combined base fare and fuel surcharge (YQ), excluding taxes and fees:

  • Red Tier: 6 Maharaja Points per INR100 spent
  • Silver Tier: 8 Maharaja Points per INR100 spent
  • Gold Tier: 9 Maharaja Points per INR100 spent
  • Platinum Tier: 10 Maharaja Points per INR100 spent

On Air India Express flights, Maharaja Points are earned on the base fare only. Fuel surcharge (YQ), taxes, and other fees are excluded.

You can also earn an additional 2 Maharaja Points for every INR100 spent when booking directly through the official Air India or Air India Express website or app.

Please note that this direct booking bonus is not applicable on Air India Express codeshare flights.

On Star Alliance Partner Airline flights, Maharaja Points are awarded based on the respective airline partner’s Terms and Conditions.

On purchases made with Maharaja Club partners, Maharaja Points are awarded based on the applicable partner Terms and Conditions.
